    Bungee cord door pockets

I thought I had seen the bungee cord for the fold down pockets on Pelican, but cant find them now. Maybe I am using the wrong search words or maybe I saw them on another website?

I have just installed my restored fold down and map pockets. They came out great, but I need new bungee cord to make them fit perfectly.

    John,

I get mine from an ARMY/NAVY supplus store...a good 'back packing' store will do as well.......

They sell it in different sizes and colors by the yard........ About 5mm black should do it....

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers,

I was just going to suggest you try Performance Products/Automotion...

Pictures please? I'd really like to see how your pockets turned out

I started with these in the two first pics. Bought vinyl(new) and anodized alu trim(used) from Einmalig.com

I posted results of restoring fold down pockets in this tread:

    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ht=door+pocket

I restored the front pockets the same way with the same vinyl as the fold down pockets. Took a lot of ironing and use of wood boards and wises to make them straight. Also used some epoxy glue where the cardboard had cracks.

Last pics installed in car. To make them fit up to the door handle, the last 1 cm. I need to install the bungee cord. If I gently push them in they fit perfect. Not like new, but much better then they where when I started.

The color difference in front and rear pocket is because of bad lighting inside the garage and camera had to use the flash. Looks better in natural light.

Any boat supply store should have different sizes of shock cord.

Oh, by the way, nice looking door pockets!

    Hi John,

Your doors look great. I bought my bungee cords at a fabric supply store. There should be many sources.

    Thanks for sharing the photos.

Nice job. Looks and sounds like how I restored mine. What did you use to staple the vinyl to the bottom of the pull-out pockets? The only staples I could find were too long and poked through the pocket to the inside. Thanks.

Scott, actually I found some very short staples in my garage. I have no idea where I got them. On the map pockets I did not use any staples at all. It was not nessesary because the 3M glue sticks the vinyl to the cardboard extremly well if clamped down/together.
