Thread: My Monterey Weekend

  1. #1

    My Monterey Weekend

Here're a few of my pictures. The first bunch are from the Concorso (next year, THE QUAIL!) and the rest are from Laguna Seca. I tried to focus most of my pictures on detail items and things that I consider "special." There seemed to be a lot of fuel pump/induction photos when I got home, but some of my pictures were prompted by discussions on this forum. Congrats, you guys are in my head...

The first pics are of a Pantera silhouette car ... great headers. The other three are of the Lambo Miura - one with air cleaners and one without.

    Maserati that's really a Ferrari that's really a Maserati that's really a Ferrai...

My old man talking on a cell phone and repping Abarth (that shirt got more attention than some of the cars at the RM auction ... seriously)

How do you set your store-bought Lamborghini apart from the rest of the store-bought Lamborghinis? Draw on it with a Sharpie. Actually, this was probably the most impressive modern Lambo of the bunch - almost the entire car (windows too!) was covered with FREEHAND artwork ... every single panel was different. It was truly a work of art ... at least, the art was.

The second set of pictures is of the air-brake/wing setup on the Bugatti Veyron. The first photo is of the hydrolic ram that attaches to the subframe, and the second photo is a closeup of the bracket to which the wing is mounted. Amazing craftsmanship and robot welds.

    1) The reason I bought my ticket to the RM auction. YES, it was a real ST seat. NO, I couldn't find the owner. YES, I left a note. NO, I never heard back. YES, it was totally hosed. NO, I don't know what happened to it.

2/3) Cammer anyone? F*cker Only Rolls Downhill

4/5) 512BB LM ... they only made a handful of these cars, and there was a handful of them at the track. Pretty impressive.

1/2) I freakin' love the Daytonas. Not sure why, but the race versions just get my juices flowing. Ferrari's attention to detail is astounding ... at times.

    3) Chuck Miller interlude. By the way, I didn't call you. You're totally and completely out of your mind. No....seriously. You're crazy.

4/5) How do you build an aluminum monocoque? With little blue rivets. McClaren anyone? ... wait, that might be a Lola.

    3) 935 springplate ... no fourth bolt ... lots of drop

    4) Provenance

    5) The most bitchen wheel weights on planet Earth

Well, that's my trip in a nutshell. I'll probably trickle more photos in as I get motivated. Hope you enjoyed the show.
