    Availability of SWB Guards (Front and Rear)

    Wondering what the availability of these is? Car is a 68 Australian delivered911L

    Guards must be in good to excellent condition.

    I'm planning to have the paint done next year, and would like to know how readily available these are, and ballpark costs.

    It would be nice to have them in my backpocket prior to commencing the project.

    Feed back / views welcome.

    Yes, they are available

    If I recall, I got mine from Stoddard or Pelican.

    The chrome portion fits fine but, the rubber bumper portion that is appropriate for "S" trim is a bit less than ideal. The rubber bumper portion has a metal core that you will need to "adjust" in order to get a good fit. I used a vise with two rods spaced about an inch and a half apart to bend the metal core so it would better match the surface. I'm hoping the outter edges will shrink back a bit and tighten again the chrome.

    I haven't installed the guards yet. I kind of like the look of the clean front end. I may wait a little while longer before I commit to drilling the holes to mount the guards.

    I think I've read on this board that not all cars had the rubber bumper portion over the chrome. You may want to varify this with the bumper guard police before you purchase.

    Guards mean fenders as Cam has explained....

    So the message should read fenders, or wings if thats easier. It seemed perfectly clear to me at the time of typing!!!!

    I've seen them occiasionally on Ebay but its difficult to see if they are good, bad or indifferent.

    Wondering if they are still around ... maybe someone has some pristine NOS examples sitting forlornly on a shelf waiting to find a good home in Sydney, Australia.

    Love the togo brown car by the way - we have a few early RHD 65's in Australia. 2 are in Sydney (300475 and 300882), and then there is the car owned by Stewart (1st).

    Bumping an old thread with the US interpretation of "guards."

    Just received a pair of said S trim rubber buffers for my rear guards (bumperettes?) from Stoddard. Rather disappointed that the curvature of the buffers does not match the curvature of the guards.

    Sacto S, how did things turn out for you? I'm tempted to send these back and comb the aisles at Hershey end of the month.

    They worked fine with a bit of tweeking

    I clamped 2 sections of broom handle about 1.5 inches apart in my shop vise. I cranked the vise down tight so these "pegs" wouldn't budge. Place the rubber piece between the two pegs and bend the piece to match the curve you want. It takes a bit of careful adjustment but the fit is good once you're done. They rubber pieces also seem just a tad long. I'm thinking this will not be an issues as the rubber draws back over time.

    Agreed both on the length and shrinking/drawing back, at least if the rest of my S deco rubber is any indication. Thanks for that!
