My fan and housing is a bit oxidized and could use a bit of restoration. I was wondering if an application of Gibbs would help the situation. Any other ideas for cleaning the fan/housing without going too crazy?

Gibbs works well, but to really clean it up, I used some fine steel wool and Mothers. I then used the Gibbs to keep it looking fresh.

Do not use steel wool on the magnesium fan blades. Particles of steel will embed themselves in the soft mag and accelerate corrosion.

A good way to clean them up is to soda blast and then use Gibbs.
That is what was done with this one.
Excuse me for sounding stupid but what is Gibbs?

I've used Gibbs on mine and it works great, better than anything I tried before.

I like to let the magnesium oxidize a little bit before I apply Gibbs so the mag. is a darker shade of gray.

Does Gibbs last a long time on the mag surface?
How often should Gibbs be re-applied to mag?
Thanks,
