    Wink Inept Question #3

Like I said. Maybe it was clarity of vision???

Anyway. My rear reflectors are bothering me too. One of my rear bumpers was obviously replaced at one time and it had the 72-73 reflector lense. This bugged me because the other side was the original with the SAE 67 numbers. So, I've been on a quest to find a matching correct lense for my 70. I found one but, it had a small crack in it. So I continued my search. I found another pair in pretty nice shape but, though it has the SAE 67 numbers, it is missing one additional safety agency mark that my 70 lense has. Course I'm assuming the one lense is original to the car. I'm 100% sure the bumper it was on is original to the car.

Could this pair of reflectors be an earlier version? 67-68? So, now I'm confused and I hate that.

Please, someone with a low mile original 70S please post or send me a picture of their never replaced 100% original rear reflector.

Also, I'd love to hear from SWB owners about the markings of their original lenses.

    67's did not have rear reflector's. I believe 1'st year was 1968.

I have no problem with the theory that all men are created equal.

The '68s had side reflectors, not rear. The first year for the rears was '69.

Crap! I confused the presence of S trim on the rear bumpers with the rear reflector. OK, then my thread title applies 69-71 then. I know DOT requirements led to later lenses having the SAE 72 markings.

The safety agency marks are what I'm after Boxster. Both types start with the SAE 67 numbers at the top. I'll try and post some pics of the differences on my lenses. I think the current repops have the SAE 72 markings on them.

Now that I look closely at your picture it looks like you have three lines of safety markings on your lense. I have what I think are the original style with three lines but, then this latest pair I picked up only has two lines of safety markings.

Yep! I'm THAT anal. Oh, and inept too!
