    Driving my buddies F430

Just curious how it might compare to a GT3. I was totally suprised. This is one raw fast car. I suppose I thought it was going to be more politically correct. It was loud, it smoked a bit on startup, it RIPPED! You turn the TC off and it will slide like a dirt tracker. This was one with F1 sequential. You must be crazy to order one with a standard. I have talked him into taking it to Putnam for the KY region PCA event at the end of the month. I, on the other hand, will be driving either a 70 T with a hot rod 3.0, or a 914 with a Buick V6. Decisions, decisions... He also has a mint 89 speedster that would be fun. Any driving experiences with other cars that really suprised you guys, I am interested in hearing about.

    Bill,
I too have a friend with an 05 430 with sequential trans. He is generous with letting me try his new toys out and it was impressive but I did not push it hard. I also drove his 73 Daytona and it was suprisingly smooth and easy to drive but no rocket. I could see how it could be a dailey driver in it's day. The real suprise was his 64 leaf spring 289 cobra. One of my favorite cars. A fun car at a more realistic price but at todays values it is more of a nice addition in a large collection. It was not a car I could imagine driving fast unless there was nothing around to hit. At 6'5 I had to squeeze in and remove my shoes to have good pedal controll. It was great on the Blue Ridge Parkway though.
He has recently purchased a 246GTS and a Lusso but I haven't seen either yet.
It actually makes me appreciate my 911 at it's cheap purchase price relative to his cars.

I have driven a 308 on race track track and a 512BB. The howl of a flat 12 is impressive but they are big heavy cars.
