Correct place to stow the jack?

I have been driving 911s of one kind or another since 1989, and somehow never figured out a nice way to stow the jack in a pre-1974 model. I just wrap it in a couple of towels, and stick up front under the hood. Surely there is a better way, something that the factory worked out. What is it?

    Many thanks.

I found a picture in the '72 owners manual, that showed the jack stored in the very nose of the trunk; in front of the spare.

    Agreed

That's where mine is. Doesn't seem to move around, and she was in an autocross today without it shifting.

...some cynical people would say put it in the spare parts box under the workbench and carry a small(safe)trolley jack around with you in the car...
I have taken their advice !

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

Me too. The original early 911 jack has damaged a lot of rocker panels and aluminum trim in its day...

My '71 manual shows the same, but I can't seem to replicate it. When I try, it doesn't hold in place, and I'm really worried about scratching my restored spare wheel.

Does someone have a photo of their jack positioned like above with their spare? Right now, mine is wrapped up in a towel and I hate the look.

    Thanks,

    John

This one is not mine, but I think it is a nice setup.

Is this strictly a concours discussion? If not, why not simply fab up your own tie down? I'm with the aluminum trolley camp on this one. I've seen what that old jack can do when someone (not mentioning any names here) doesn't chock their wheels correctly. Not to worry, no 911's were injured, only an old rotting VW bug...
