    Mountain Mille - PCNA Sponsored

My wife and I will be participating in Jean and Rich Taylor's "Mountain Mille." This four day event kicks off at the Inn at Berry Hill in South Boston, Virginia on Sunday October 14.

After stops at the Greenbrier, the Homestead and Virginia Intl Raceway, it winds up back at Berry Hill on Thursday October 18.

Porsche Cars North America is sponsoring the event. Last year PCNA arranged for Hurley Haywood to spend one afternoon hotlapping VIR with a Carrera GT.

Are any other board members participating?

My partner and I will be there - bringing a '72 non-sunroof T that Phil Bagley (Klub Sport Racing) is just completing this week. Former Don Ahearn car - light ivory, 42k mile, RS flares, Gerry McCarthy 2.7, Harvey's wheels. This is our third year. Great event. What are you driving?

I just spoke with Rich Taylor who is organizing the event and there are two classes of 356's, multiple 73 Rs's, my 72, as well as a 964 RS and a 928. Altogether something like 18 or 20 Porsches - out of about 50 cars.

    Hi Steven,

The Porsche contingent for this event is really strong! 20 out of 50 cars is a great showing. Unfortunately, we will not be among them as the '71 S is far from completion.

As an alternative, we have been rushing to get another car ready and will be driving a 1965 GT350 (SFM 5 S 280). This one did some vintage race duty and is prepped to '65 factory lightweight specs with plexi windows, heater delete (hope it stays warm), Americans, etc.

Is Phil delivering your car to VA or are you driving? We are driving down from CT.

Katie and I look forward to meeting you!

Exotic is picking up the car from Phil Friday afternoon and delivering it to Berry Hill Plantation Sunday morning. We are flying down from New York Sunday afternoon. I look forward to meeting you, too.

Be sure to post photos please. I never saw Don's completed ivory hot rod so it would be great to see photos of this one. Does it have the '73 RSR motor in it still? Thanks and sounds like a great event.

Phil sold that motor seperately. The motor in it now is one I had purchased from Gerry McCarthy about five years ago. He had built it to RS specs from a 7R case with Webers - never put into a car before now. I haven't seen the car completely assembled - I'll take pictures and try to figure out how to post. My black 73 has an engine built in the 80's as a twin plug RSR 2.8 that Rob King rebuilt to 2.9 about five years ago. It'll be interesting to compare the cars: Stock 67S, 72 w/ 2.7, 73 w/ 2.9, AND 73 w/ 3.6.

    RS at prior Mtn Mille

Good looking RS from a prior running of the Mountain Mille.

Made it Orange, VA on Saturday, about 550 miles down the Western Route on 78 and 81.

On to South Boston, VA in the morning.
