    Engine out of the car in 1.5 hours

    I don't know what I did to it, but it had to come out, so this morning I pulled it and got it into the back of the Subaru for transport to my builder in 1.5 hours. No Lift, no air tools, all grunt and a floor jack... I am surprised how well it fits in the back of the Outback wagon....

    I wish someone would do a detailed "engine pull for idiots" video. Newbies like me would pay good money for that. You know like: "see that bolt I am pointing to, remove it and don't let it drop into that hole below" instead of "using your plasma coated laser guided tool remove the castelated turbo bushing while, with your third hand, ...". You get the idea.

    101 Projects for you 911 makes it look temptingly easy, but after wrestling with my headlight trim rings for an hour after putting new rubber seals in maybe I should stop while I'm ahead.

    If you turn the motor around it looks better in the back of a Subaru.. I have had two 911 motors in the back of our Forrester...

    a new record?

    1.5 hours,now that's fast!
    how many drops have you done before?
    my first (and only) took 3 hours but i wasn't in a hurry.

    My first time was 30 years ago...

    I pulled the S90 Engine out of Dad's 356 when he was out of town, took me two days.. This is only around the 10th time I've pulled a 911, It just takes knowing a sequence and getting after it...

    Now for the bad news, pulled the valve covers and found broken Rockers on both #2 intake and exhaust. Pulled the fan shroud and found this.... YUCK... Anybody got a deal on a early 2.0 case and crank??? Maybe time to build a 2.7 and join the RRRRRgrupe..

    It's aluminum. It can be repaired. If it is the original S case, it's worth the $$$.

    That ain't no boat anchor...it IS, however, heartbreaking. Save that case.

    Fixing the case isn't going to be that bad finding a standard/standard 66mm crank is going to be tough.
