    Vin # help please

Can anyone give me some information on 119220573?
I have been looking at "911&912 Porsche" by Johnson but the info
doesn't really ck out. Also, what is the best source for number info?
    Thanks
    Mike

    vin

    your number corresponds to a 1969 911 E
    3rd number=year...9 for 1969
    4th number=model...2 for E (1=T, 2=E, 3=S)

According to www.elferhelfer.com this is a 69. The 68 VIN starts with 118XXXXXX. Correct? Tom, did you think of production year, because 573 could be 68 production.

    I agree.

Upon further review (my information is from a 25+ year old book by Boschen and Barth) appears to be out of order.
1966 cars are carrying my 306 series serial number from 1967. My FACTORY Kardex states the car was built in April of 1967.
Apparently it was common back then to lump years together.

Michael Cotton also has the 1967 as a 66/67 issue and "911" is 305101-308552

Cotton also states 119 as '68-'69 models. Crossover to 911 prefix in 1969-70.

    1968/69 911E 119220001-119221014

Red Book likens the car as a '69 model.

    I say it's a '69 E. How about that?

I am attempting to determine how many 1969 S coupes were built. There were a total of approximately 1,492 coupes, T, E & S. If I had the starting and ending numbers of S engine number for 1969. I would have the answer. Does anyone have this data?
    Thanks,
    Tom Scott

If you are looking for data on '69S, my VIN is the earliest I have ever run across:

    119300031

I am not saying mine is the earliest, but I do know Porsche crashed a bunch of cars to federalize, so the lowest VINs never hit the streets.
