Sunday at the Nurburgring

Fascination Nurgburgring, entrance and exit to the Nordschleif. It was very crowded when we arrived around 4:30, which sounds late, but that day it was scheduled to be open until 7:00 pm, well into dusk this time of year. The track was closed due to an incident, and the traffic waiting to get on was stacked up in all directions. So I took photos...

In case you are interested, a lap costs EUR 19, about $27 these days, and cameras of any kind are strictly forbidden (now) from the track. I drove 1 lap (in a Opel Meriva, a gutless tinivan), had a bunch of fun, and my work cohort Eliot drove another lap, I think having more fun than me! On track, we saw a car limping away from a rail, smoke and steam everywhere, another local yellow with a dinged Mini, and a motorcycle with literally nothing left in front of the gas tank. The track went red again after Eliot's lap and never re-opened. We went across the street and bought souvenirs...

I saw more 996 GT3's than I can remember, and at least 5 GT3RS's (more than Italiano), and an Irish Green 1970 911T, oddly enough. The many others included every BMW ever, including the most bitchin Bavaria alive, a bunch of Minis, a Super Seven, lots of euro tuners that I couldn't name, and a very nice Lancia.
