    Lightbulb 'Once Upon a Wheel'

    Hey,

I just caught a last 5 minutes of this cool, old, hour docu. on SpeedVision 'Once Upon a Wheel' hosted and narrated by Paul Newman... Racing, drivers, and movie celebs all interacting......

    http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/3633...Wheel/overview

But what was REALLY interesting is, in the last 3 minutes or so, this movie had a 'green flag/ heart beat/ still photo montage' then 'flag drop/engine blast/ and race start'........ sound familiar/look familiar...... you bet

Seems this 1968 movie preceded LeMans by at least 2 years

    Kind'a interesting......no?

    Cheers

Although often quoted as 1968, this film was actually put out in 1971. 914's weren't even in production in 1968. I loved the footage of the 914 celebrity race, makes the film worthwhile just for that.

Production of the movie Le Mans occurred prior to this film, so wasn't influenced by Once Upon a Wheel...
1972 Porsche 911T - 2.7 RS pistons and rods, weber carbs, solex camshaft - stupidly sold and deeply missed...
