    SCRG Charity Challenge @ Sears Point

    Last weekend the SCRG held their annual event and it was a resounding success. Perfect weather, outstanding turn-out, 23 Porsches (all Luftgekuehlt, of course, just like God and Dr. Ferdinand intended them to be) and combined with Vintage stock cars and Vintage F1 and a lot of other mouth-watering machinery.
    I have taken the liberty of posting photos of quite a few non-Porsche cars because it was truly one of those days when you just felt like celebrating internal combustion at it's finest, regardless of whose badge was on the nose.

    2. No wonder it took the Italians so long to adopt discs-their drums were huge

    Lots of Alfas, but only one of these: '33 ex-Nuvolari, straight-eight, supercharged,......the sound was unbelievable. Just feast your eyes on the engineering and the details. This car is fast.

    One of the reasons for making the trip in the first place. Mike Reischl's immaculate Porsche 906. No photograph can do this car justice. You gotta see it and hear it.

    Walt Sykes brought his recently completed 2 litre SWB 911 to play. It's one of those cars that reveals multiple layers of details the closer you look.
    The engine lid is a hand-fabricated aluminum skin over a stock steel frame.
    The rear bumpers & rear bumper guards are also fabricated of aluminum and fit better than stock pieces-work performed by Dink Farmer.

    There was also a smattering of English iron. The other green car (not the Aston) is a rare Tojeiro.
