    1968 owners manual

Which owners manual came in a base US 911 for 1968 (not an L)?

Mike I have a NOS manual for a 1968 base 911 but would only part with it for a like condition 1967 base 911 manual.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.

Not 68L's but 68 base models? I've been looking for one (but I only have a mint 1986L manual to trade )

Joe, well....that doesn't help much does it?

Care to post a pic of it? All I see are the L ones, but you have confirmed that there was a "base" 911 one too for '68.

I consider my base USA '68 a rare car, since they only made 400 odd cars, unlike the plentiful L where Porsche made many thousands.

Mike I will see what I can do about posting a photo as I have never done that before.

A friend of mine use to own a 67 911 which he has sold many years ago and one day he thought he would call PCNA and see if they still had owners manuals available. They told him they had just one left and sent it to him. This was 25 years ago ! I recently re-aquired a 67 911 that had no owners manual so he said he would send it to me but it turns out to be a 68 manual.

So for me something is better than nothing however if I could find the correct 67 manual I would be glad to help you out.

I just spoke with PAP and they are NOS 911L manuals. He has 14 of them at only $12.50 each.

Here are pics of the cover and the 1st inside page of the manual out of my '68 911 (Normal) Karmann coupe. There is no mention of "L" anywhere, and it specifies "USA" on the cover. It says "W 336 e" and "Edition X/67" on the inside page (in case the pic comes out too small to read). I know it is for the '68 USA version because it covers the emissions equipment that was installed for that year and was not on the '67 (air pump, throttle compensation valve, etc.)
