Factory 20 Mile Shake Down Drive

Ok, I was watching this video and it refers that the results of this 20 mile factory shake down drive is permanently recorded with the car. Love to get those notes for my car. Anyone know if you can get that kind of info from Porsche? Did they really keep it? Wonder what years they did the 20 mile shake down drive? Pretty cool in those days.

Porsche won't give us anything anymore. Too many laws in Germany prevent it now.

    A side bar...

In 1987 I was in Germany on business. I took an extra week, rented an Opel Kadette, visited family, and hit every car museum I could. I stayed in a small hotel near the factory which was on the test route. I could see them go by on the street below every few minutes. You can spot the cars out on the test run by the red numerals on their plates...

    Very cool...

Last time I was in Zuffenhausen (2005) they said they randomly select 25% of the cars for a more extensive road test.

I didn't realise the percentage they test but when my wife and I went to the Factory in '04 we saw a number of cars, covered with protective material, rip out of the Factory and onto the Autobahn. As we were leaving Zuffenhausen there were several 911s that blew by us on their test runs.

Last time I was there in '87,I wanted to take some pics of these cars zipping through a small village on their test drives, but for some reason one didn't like it and waved me not to !
After some of the old time 'actors' on the assembly lines, this was a bit of a change !

In June of 1970 when I was at the factory taking the tour, they asked me if I wanted to ride right seat as they took the car out of the factory and accross the ladder like bumps to set the suspension and on to the holding area. Great ride it was. Unfortunately, they did not allow tourists to ride along on the 20 mile shake down. But it was a great ride out of the factory in a brand new car.
