Jim Schrager book - Buying Driving etc Early 911s

Gordon Maltby sent me a copy of the book and I just want to say I find it refreshingly different to read the Early 911 story from the perspective of one who has actually bought, drove and enjoyed early 911s and 912s first hand.
It annoys me somewhat when a generic book author is 'expert' enough to write on 911s and then in his next book he is suddenly 'expert' enough to write on,say,Morgans. Not the case here !
Even though I have been buying Porsche books since the early '70s I am happy to find different bits of info I did not know previously, for example, the motor design reason why the early 911s fouled their plugs.
Schrager raises a point most of us don't think much about, that is,we know our cars hp ratings and where they are on the rev counter.
He makes us aware of how much we rely on torque through the rev range and how it compares with each model in a model year via graphs.
An excellent chapter on common garage woes also.
If you are not 100% familiar with your early 911 and/or are looking at a car to buy make sure you get this book for your reference.
And when you go to look at/buy an early 911,make sure you take this and Paternies Red book - both indespensible !
No affiliation - just a happy reader.

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

I second that. I had the pleasure of staying a few days around him before taking his 65 Porsche 911 over the old R66 to California. Those memories can not be erased from my personal hard disc. Priceless ..
