sorry, 901 of course.
This is a early 911 from December 1964. All 82 of the 901's were made up till November 5 1964. 911's were made from November 10 1964 on, starting with serial number 300 049. Numbers were not in sequence.
This yellow car has the right numbers, no indents in the rear latch panel. And a whole lot of non-period updates, including the dash, turn signals, rocker trim, front bumper, etc. but all those are just bolt on's.
Whoo-hoo add another one to the list of 64 cars now know. Love this internet thingy.

Hmmm. 69 and later flares in the rear. Flared rear bumpers, too. Photo has been stretched wide so cant get a read on the front fender wheel flare. Rear lid, behind the grill doesn't have the center support, it's a newer lid. The tub has a real "tell" in front and rear so the 1964 tub is there.

Great news, my friend Tom has bought this car and it's coming to England!
Tom has some beautiful cars including Huske Von Hanstein's own company car a 356A Carrera GS and a 50% stake in the Ex-Jim Clark 356A, so it'll be in good company.
It's going to be fully sorted and knowing Tom it'll be immaculate. It's going to be raced and will no doubt compete with two other 901's, the freshly finished chassis number 24 and chassis number 100 which is well underway.
I'll post some pictures if Tom will let me. The car's being collected next week.

'. . . extremely rare, first-year-of-production, 1964 Porsche 901/911. One of the original 232 cars built by Porsche during the first three months of 911 production, between October and December 1964.
1964-built Porsche 901/911s are known to uniquely feature many identifying pre-mass production parts differences when compared to 1965 or ‘66 model-year cars. The 232 Registry Group have, over recent years, collectively researched and produced a detailed 1964 Parts Study and continue to share this information amongst this special group of circa 50 surviving cars and their owners.
Chassis #300 161 was supplied new in Germany via Schultz in Düsseldorf. Finished in Light Ivory with Black vinyl interior it was delivered new to Dr. Hans Reimer on 22nd December 1964.
Throughout the 1960s and early 1970s the car passed between five further owners, all documented on the original Kraftfahrzeugbrief on file, and was last registered in Germany, STA-E 990 from1971 to 2007.
In 2007 the car was sold by its long-term owners directly to UK Porsche collector, Tom Pead. Recognizing the significance of the car, Pead then carried out an extensive, two-year, ground-up restoration and, meticulously photographing it in detail whilst dismantled, set about to correctly restore or preserve its original 1964 build details, whilst also preparing the car for competitive use in historic FIA events.
In late 2011 the car was sold to Maxted-Page, who successfully ran the car in 2012 Spa Classic and Le Mans Classic races, before then selling it, in December 2012, to its current owner.
Subsequently the car has been very competitive in the 2013 Tour Auto, ‘Sixties Endurance Series and Spa Six Hour Historic race. Again in 2014, at Le Mans Classic and Spa Classic races and lastly at the prestigious John Aldington Trophy at the 73rd Goodwood Members Meeting, where it finished 5th Overall.
Since 2012 the car has been professionally maintained and run by Swiss Historic Porsche specialist, Marc de Siebenthal and today, #300 161 remains fitted with its original numbered engine case and gearbox.
Chassis #300 161 is offered for sale, complete with UK road registration and MoT, plus F.I.A. HTP paperwork, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a fully documented history and restoration file . . .'
