WTB: Strengthened 901 trany with LSD

I'm looking to build up a beefier 901 tranny (yes, a 901. I like 'em) for my 911. I thought before I go build one I should check if anyone has one I could just buy. What I am looking for is this:

901 tranny with billet intermediate plate, 904 main shaft, and a limited slip differential. Anyone have on or know of one for sale?

    Thanks!

Hello: I like 901 gearboxes as well. I would try using a early aluminum housing gearbox. That way you won't have to buy the intermediate plate. If you want to use the magnesium housing I would change the intermediate plate and the diff side cover to aluminum ones if you plan on using a limited slip with a big engine. Lastly if you stick with 7" wheels you should be fine. If you want to use 16" wheels with 10" slicks the 901 won't live long. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric

With the aluminum intermediate plate and sid cover, the mag cases are pretty much just as strong as the aluminum cases and the mag cases are a lot easier to get axels and LSD's for.

Of course i would be interested in a built aluminum case 901 as well.

Is that a comment of disbelief? If so, have you ever driven an early car with a fresh 901. I'm not the only one who prefers the way they shift to a 915, G50, ect...

I'll agree a well set up 901 is a great shifting tranny. It's just rare to find one well set up, good luck with your quest.

What gear are you wanting to put on that 904 shaft?

    Howdy Tom,

Not really sure yet on the gear selection for the new tranny. Still playing around with ideas. I'm thinking something like B, GA, M, S, Y.
