Trying to figure out if I want to make this large investment in buying the Michelin XWX tires for my 1970 S.
It would be great if someone could post some pics of the XWX tires on an early S. This would be a HUGE help.
Thanks for the help.

Page 53 of the book McQueens Machines has a very good picture of his '69 S with XWX's.
Unfortunately I don't have a scanner

Here are some photos of my '71 T, as delivered with S trim, suspension, wheels, etc., so it will look identical. I can't recommend these tires enough - they look GREAT and handle really well.
To each their own, but a vintage car on modern tires just doesn't look right, IMHO.
My 1.5 cents,

So would the 185-70 vr15 series be the best fit (and look) for a the deep six rim or can you go a little wider?

I think they look just right....They have the right thickness, the right pattern:
Hi,
I have done exactly this today, and fitted 5 new xwx's for my 70S. The car is in mid restoration so I do not have any pics of the wheels on the car, but these are a just few hours old.

You guys are the best. Truly appreciate your help. Okay, here's the deal. I am keeping the Pirelli tires on the car and using the money to buy the new Chopard Mille Miglia watch........(to be continued)
JUST KIDDING. I am going on the Coker website and purchasing five XWX tires now. The tires look great on the pics you posted and each car was outstanding.
Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The XWX's really fill up the wheel well, giving great ride also.

Here's some pics of the 10/69 heart deep 6 that is my spare in my '68, along with the vintage Michelin X tire that is on it.
The 185/70 is a smidge higher than the 195/65 tires on my car. It's a toss up, if you lean more vintage look then 185/70 is for you, if you want more contact patch, 195/65 is it.
195/65 are much cheaper too.
