What year did the Porsche 911 key pouch/fob use a maroon liner. Was is 65-73 or later? Thanks Ron

A friend recently gave me an original that he received when he bought his 1971 new. It has a maroon liner.

BTW, original 356 key fobs are selling for really stupid $$$.

I would like to know if the keyring on the fob you mention is the spring type which is easier to place keys in, or is it the ring type where you would have a hard time spreading it to go over the plastic large key?

    inquiring minds like to know.

    Thanks

It was 65 to 73, but they also used a dark beige as well.

My father was importing cars as in individual "dealer" back in the 60's to early 70's. He gave me a maroon lined key pouch as a present when I was about 14 years old (1971). It had the spring type of closure. I recently acquired one from a board member that has the spring type of closure with a dark beige interior and it came out of a 1970/71 car.

There is documentation of the ring type closure for 1969, and this might indicate that the ring type of closure was used with the early metal keys that didn't have the plastic on them.

Either way... I do know for certain that these pouches were offered in the early 65 to 73 cars.

The pouches are very rare, and I'm certain will probably rise in prices just like the original 356 pouches.

    regards,
    Eric

I'd like to add that the pouch that came with my 72T has a green interior and it also has the spring type of closure.

Could someone please post a picture? I'm interested in knowing what my '71 would likely have come with.

    Thanks,

There is an old thread initiated by type901. It contains some pictures and points out differences I think.

    Here you go...

The one on left is from a 71T I had...it has a red interior...I know it was delivered with the car.
The one on right from my 70 914-6...it has tan a interior...not sure if it was with the car at delivery.

Both have the spring clip type of closure...as mention probably for the later plastic end keys as they are a bitch to get on a ring...

    from the Advertising Articles catalog

i trust most understand that it is not advisable to use factory photos as historical reference. with that in mind, the attached photo is from the Advertising Articles catalog of 1973. both examples of the key fob / key pouch are seen w/ conventional split rings. the one that came w/ my original owner '66 912 has the type as seen above.
    YMMV ?
