unless the dealer name was on the pouch i doubt you got one of those with your car. you could buy one but it was not provided free as part of the delivery. just like today.

I just looked at the 4 pouches I own with the maroon lining, 2 of them have the ring type and 2 of them have the spring type large opening. That large opening must have been for the later plastic end keys?
This is good info. Is anyone doing a decent job reproducing these? I'm looking for one for my '71.
Thanks,
John
I agree. The Advertising Articles catalogs are filled with all manner of facinating goodies that a salesman could use to entice or reward a sale. Even though we see key fobs pictured in some sales brochures, I'm not convinced that it was a foregone conclusion that every new owner received one.Originally Posted by boxster03

OK pouch experts, what's the story with this one? Maybe the PO did a color change, hah.

I'm convinced after talking to a bunch of people that there never was a "repro" per se... Porsche had a bunch of different manufacturers probably make these, and they all didn't have access to the same "stamp". It's an inexpensive item.... so were the Messko tire gauges when they were new.
If there were true "repro's" we would see a lot more of them around....and that's simply not the case. I've been looking for/at these things for a few years now...there's never truly any quantity around.

Another interesting Olde Threade . . .
My car only came w/ a Dealer fob --- dates back to the early '70s + which I'd very-much like to de-commission/stash . . . and so, when it comes to proper/Faktory fobs, have been wondering about the whole ring-vs-spring thing . . .
I've seen all kinds of different combinations of inner + outer colors/materials, over the years. Different kinds of embossings, too --- crests, the name 'Porsche,' etc. And I've never been clear on what's what/correct/etc, years used, so . . .
. . . maybe its time to . . .
. . . flash your fobs!
This is mine + definitely NOT a Faktory bit . . . from Gebr. Dürst AG, Davos, Switzerland . . . circa '71
