    2008 Le Mans Classic

I am starting to make plans for my 2008 vacations. In 2006, Thorsten Klein, Will Sanchez and myself went to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We flew to Germany, drove to Le Mans. Along the way we spent the night in 3 different cities. Going back to Stuttgart, we stopped in Paris. It was a trip to remember for the rest of our lives.

We have been talking of going to the Le Mans Classic. It only happens every OTHER year. We can meet up in Paris, or Le Mans. Maybe go to a different city, country before or after the race??

Who has been there? Who else is planning on going? Who WANTS to join us??
Bring whoever you want, more people = more fun.

Ive done 2004 & 2006 with friends from DDK.

In 2008 DDK ( www.ddk-online.com ) have over 40 early Porsches going. You'll find most of us camping @ Maison Blanche.

James, thanks for the info. We'll be looking for you.

John, any tips on hotels to stay at. Looks like there may be approx. 10 S Registry/R Gruppe members for California going.

I recieved a email regarding the VIP package, price is 400 Euro. Is it worth it??

Any info is appreciated, have to start booking flights, hotels, tickets, etc.

    Thanks

The only thing you'll need to get booked urgently is accomodation.

I have heard most places are booking up FAST.

There should be no panic for tickets for the event. IMHO I wouldn't bother with the VIP tickets. What is worth getting is tickets that include paddock passes, grandstands etc. I usually get my tickets from Porsche Club France ( via either PCGB or DDK )

Depending on when you arrive, you always keep hire a car & drive upto Sees ( 100 miles North of LeMans) for Breakfast on the Thursday, as this will probabally be where all the DDK early Porsches will be meeting.

    or rent a place

you could rent a place like this
    http://www.gites-de-france.com/gites...MIN=3&CAPMAX=8
    540 Euro for 2 weeks (july 5th -> 19th)
it has 3 rooms .... a little cottage 10 miles from Le Mans
    Per couple/room that is about $750/3 = $250 for 14 nights
even if you only stay 3-4 nights, its not bad.
Admittedly it's cheap, but there are lots of other sorts of accomodation out there.
