Please pardon my novice ignorance, but what (apart from the attendance of Ferry Porsche, and the beautiful locale) made the 1973 Monterey Porsche Parade so special?

Possibly what I posted about back on page 8:

1973 was the year that the Pebble Beach Concours folks kicked Porsche out. The story I've heard over the years was that the PB Concours people were tired of the perfection of the Porsche concours cars and wanted to play in their own sandbox. When I got our '67 with the '73 Parade sticker, I did research on that concept. I found this quote from Bruce Anderson validating that history:

"Sunday dawned early on the Pebble Beach Concours where they too helped us celebrate Porsches fifty years of making cars. This was Pebble Beach’s own 48th anniversary, they will celebrate their fiftieth in the year two thousand. This event continues to grow in stature and it was claimed that this year they had a record 15,000 people in attendance. Porsche cars used to be regular participants at Pebble Beach in the bygone days, I even won my class there in 1971 with my 1964 Porsche 356 SC GT coupe. Soon after that, in 1973, Pebble Beach went upscale and excluded the post war Sports Car clases where the Porches had competed. Since then we have only been invited back in 1982 when Porsche was the featured Marque at the Monterey Historics and again this year when Porsche was again the featured Marque. I have been fortunate to judge both in 1982 and again in 1998 when I was Chief judge for the Porsches."

PCA basically showed up the PB folks, and made history for a memorable event that still shines.

Now we need more people to post pictures from the Parade - even parking lot pictures. I'm still hoping to see a picture of our '67 somewhere out there.
