    Lightbulb 911 restoration

    hi all,
I'm one the way to make a 911R replica based on 912 1965.
The tube is correct but to save as most as possible weight, i'm getting out the "blaxon" protection from the wheel housing.
I need some tips about new paint to put in.
I heard that epoxy paint should be ok, but is that enough and is the weight really less with or not ?
    Rgds.

    Hi Freddy,
stripping undercoating is a fastidious job,you will not save too much weight, depends also if car is rust free and if it's for rally or track use

    Freddy,

I had my car sanblasted and epoxy-primered. The epoxy they used was industrial strength and I would think should protect the shell pretty well. The one thing you have to do is strip all the undercoating first. The weight savings it's probably not much but you'll get to see what's hinding under the undercoating. Other people have chosen to "powdercoat" their tub/chasis as well.
