I just saw a ratty first year of the next generation ( 1976 930 ) sell for way more than the usual price on ebay. I got a feeling that in certain situations some people may see value based on things we, the informed ,take for granted. Lets face it, once the folks that have adorned the other "auction busters " with big checks, and get real by driving, beholding and then comparing values, the buyer of this car is far better off than many others that wrote checks for their new passion.

That's one of those "infamous" PY65/MY66 cars. More proof that value of PY65 and MY65 cars are on par.

And this car has Webers, not Solexes!

If SCM's (Schrager's) assessment of that car is correct, it was just an average restoration. It sounds like the result was a case of two guys determined to buy an old 911 that day, not the new market value for any shiny 66 911.

I'm not saying that price is market, just making an observation on 65/66 price and desirability.

B J 2006 Scottsdale had a similar result along with R M with a 912 getting into higher territory. These high profile sales are noted by many who do not frequent sites like these or belong to the Porsche "in crowd". These results most likely will affect the market if a highly visible pattern continues. Tom Barrett's adage " you never pay to much, you only buy to soon " is evident in many Porsche model prices in the past few years.

    a 912 example

I know it`s a 912,but this sold yesterday and supports the notion that very good cars lead the pack { $34,500 }and might have appeared to be out of line with current pricing. Then a few years later,we look back and think we should have kept all the cars we have sold. This is a very nice example. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-...QQcmdZViewItem
