Those cars are rare indeed, but 123 were built as far as my sources go.

    thanks yes 123 built,
engine is a 911-83 as stamped,
the actual engine number made no sense to me but it was my understanding that all these special order 9 cars had "replacement" engines as the normal engine for this car would have been the Carrera 3.0 engine, per Porsche I have sent off for the C of A, so assuming this one is correct, it should give the number of the engine that came with this car.

Cia Andrea, mine is red with tan, not my favorite color combo, but the quality of the car is incredible.

    Jack,

This is not correct. These 123 '76 Carreras where produced with Mg 7R cases like the previous Carrera 2.7 cars. They were stamped *6668XXX*. The 'AT' stamped on this case denotes either a Factory replacement or exchange case, which in this instance, is probably stamped with the serial # of the original case. The original case was probably damaged too badly to be repaired. The 3.0L Carreras have Al cases and are stamped 930/XX.

I'm sure Yale will chime in, as this particular sale does not seem to have had a happy ending. Being that he only has one post, in fairness, perhaps you would comment, so that any other cars you sell are not sullied by disagreements from any previous transactions.

When I spoke with the eBay seller a few months ago about this '76 RS he told me that he had taken the car back to Porsche AG to have some top end engine work done at some point in the mid-80's. Upon his return a few weeks later the engine had mistakenly been taken completely apart. They must have found some problem with the original case at that time and the result was a replacement case.
