    2.2T compression/leak numbers

I need expert opinion on a car I am looking to purchase. I received an extensive amount of info from the owner to include records from the past 8 years. In those records are some leak and compression numbers. I know the leak numbers are right on the edge, but the compression numbers seemed very low to me (from my limited experience) even though they were very even across the board.

The owner claims this to be an original 70k motor but has no records to document back to new. Dont worry, if I go forward, I will most certainly have my own PPI accomplished. I only wanted opinions of the following numbers to see if it was even worth going forward.

    Leak -- 8%, 9%, 9%, 10%, 8%, 10%
    Compression -- 95, 95, 95, 95, 90, 95

From what I've read about compression numbers it's not the actual numbers that count but the variation between them. These look very good.

More expert minds will chime in I am sure.

I'll agree even numbers are good, but a a T engine with its mild camshafts and not alot of overlap, should post better numbers. Say 150-170 psi. This engine
    looks alittle tired to me.

    my 2c...

Thank you for the responses thus far. I have been doing some reading on the low compression numbers. One website stated that if all the compression numbers are universally low and the leak numbers are within an acceptable range, then the timing chain could be off a few notches. Does that sound feasible to explain this?

The compression check was done in conjunction with other standard maintenance -- valve adjustment, oil change, etc. What worries me is the mechanic that did the check did all the maintenance for the previous owner and told the current owner (seller) before he bought the car that the motor was healthy (even with those numbers).
