    911 103 103 0R - 2.2 conrod

    901 103 101 00 - 2.0 conrod

I think those are the forging numbers rather than part numbers so it's not possible (without pictures) to tell if they're 'S' versions which were nitrated (making them darker in appearance).

    Thanks Andy,

I'm trying to work out if the 2.0 rods are of the S type. Are the part numbers on the reverse side of the rod?

I'll try to get some photos to post.

    Cheers, Cam

OK, the guys who owns the rods has said there are no numbers on the reverse side....He got the rods as part of a bunch of spares that included a counterweighted crank.

Photo attached although I'm not sure if it will be of any help?

Did the E's also have the nitrided rods or was that on the S only?

    Thanks again, Cam

Cam - part numbers don't tend to be on parts - certainly not engine parts !

The numbers that are on these parts are usually 'forging' or 'casting' numbers which can be common to several to several different models.

It's what happens to these 'raw' castings/forgings (machining &/or surface treatments) which then results in different part numbers.

As far as I'm aware the nitrating process was only used for the 2.0/2.2 'S' models.

It's very difficult to say from your photo - is it possible to post a larger, close-up shot of one of the rods ?

That looks like a 2.0 S conrod - the blackish colour indicates that is has been nitrated.
