These message boards are quite cheap to operate .. I dont think this is a financial issue. Probably just a bug.

Firefox and IE are both brutally slow. I have been jumping between the two with no improvement.
I have seen a decrease in response times for the last week or so.
Posting goes into severe hang-time. Some times it just times out completely and after a refresh - the post has taken.

There are soo many factors on why this forum is running slow.
Here is one idea I'll offer up that might help...
It might have something to do with the attachment table size in the mySQL db getting L A R G E. Most users here I've seen upload photos using the provided "attach files - manage attachments" method as opposed to linking photos from their own server source. Not that the generously provided method is a bad method or a good method - actually, it is a very nice and welcome method provided by the originator and host. However, I'd recommend immediately switching this off and or encourage all to upload photos, linked from outside photo hosting sources such as Flickr.com, etc. This will help keep the db size small(er) and lessen the mySQL server load. It might require a small amount of time to upload your photos to your own server space, but in the end will make this vBulletin forum run faster = lighter is faster.
I don't know what the site servers specs are, but if on a shared server and the amount of attached photos I've seen, each and every search or page look up requires digging into and pulling up this table in the db too. Usually, the mySQL databases are in shared environment also.
Ok, time to log off, I'm wasting valuable db space and server time...
I do like posting pictures, which is hard enough when you have to go and downsize to fit on this site. I know Wayne on Pelican has figured it out, and I do not have to down size. I would rather see a way to do what we now do, ONLY FASTER. I will pay more money if that is the challenge. Just my .02 worth.Originally Posted by ts rennsport
