Mad Kuh RSR R Gruppe Magazine car for sale...seriously!

Ok, many of those on this board know me and probably a lot has to do with this car. In fact, sometimes it feels like you get so close to these toys that they become part of your identity (I know it's sick ).

Anyway, I've had this car for about 4 years which is probably tha a record for me. And, almost everything I have is usually for sale... I just don't actively pursue selling some of my toys because I get a bit attached. However, I am actually motivating to sell this car. It really is something special to me and I have put a lot of money and effort into this car. However, a unique opportunity has come for me to get something else that you will hopefully hear about soon enough.

Over the years, many of you have contacted me about selling the car and I wasn't really interested. Now is your chance to do so. I will be listing it on ebay today as well because it seems to attract the international market where most of my cars have been going lately. These buyers act quickly and usually snap up my cars before the auction ends. So, if you are serious, please call me right away. I will always give a fellow Early S or R Gruppe member priority.

I will consider serious offers over $80,000 U.S.

    Thanks.

    Paul

    1978 Porsche 930 RSR/934 Recreation
    Stock #0000

    Vin# 9308800117
    30,000 original miles
Less than 10,000 miles since complete restoration.
Original Cashmere Beige with Black interior
    Well documented records and history.

This is a rare opportunity to own an incredibly special car with a fantastic history for a fraction of the price. This car was an unrestored concours original 1978 930 with only 4,500 miles in a storage facility in Nevada up until 7 years ago when an accomplished fabricator who had worked with Dan Gurney got hold of the car. This 930 was then transformed into a tribute to ‘70s Porsche racecar icons . There are many unusual details on this turbo that are done with the highest level of quality.

Recently (August 2004), the car was a feature cover story in Excellence magazine. I have copies of the article I can email to you. Excellence wrote a 5-page article that goes in depth with the builder of the car and his motivations/thought process in developing this beast. Furthermore, 911 & Porsche World magazine just featured this car in a their latest issue. All in all, this car has appeared in over a dozen magazines as well as several TV shows.

Well over $120,000 has been invested into this car in just the past couple of years. And, much of the work was hand fabricated by the prior owner with no specific dollar figure assigned to his time and expertise. Here is a list of all the details/work done to the car:

    • Filled in mirror holes, sunroof, antennae hole
    • Custom fit 934 front and rear flares

    • The motor is detuned to 0.5 bar of boost. Designed to run at 1.1 bar of boost. Even so, the car recently dyno tested at 315hp and 287 lb ft of torque to the rear wheels. At full boost, estimated crank hp is nearly 500hp!!

As you can tell, a lot of time, thought, and money went into this 930. It is a very special car with a well-documented history. It is a true head turner. This R Gruppe hot rod is becoming very well known in the Porsche world.

    Changing of the graphics...

Many of you have asked me about the "pig/cow" graphics on the car. Everything is vinyl and easily removable. If someone is interested in the car, I will remove the graphics if they wish. Or, if they have a different idea in mind, I will help them create their own personal look.

Here are a couple pictures of the car without the graphics.

Having been passed by it on a run at Treffen '06 I can testify it is both quick and fast and makes glorious sounds.

Good luck on the sale Paul.

Although I haven't done any official 0-60 times or 1/4 mile runs, I've raced my dad in his 996 Twin Turbo/X50 and would run about even with him. However, nothing like 12" of rubber to help you go around the turns.

Dave B. (in his 914-6 with R compound tires) and I have had some glorious runs through the twisties on the way up to R gruppe events!!

Paul, I think the car needs one last HURRAH! How about Feb. 25th at the Streets of Willow?

For those unfamiliar with the car, it is everything Paul says it is ... and more. Quite a nice piece.

I thought about taking it out to the track, but I've never tracked it and knowing Murphy's law, something will happen. I prefer taking out my evil M coupe
