    180 MPH Speedometer Brand NEW

I have a brand new 180 MPH speedometer.

The following Porsche number is on the dial face 911 641 506 29.
On another area of the dial are the following numbers 0012

On the body of the speedometer are the numbers 26/35/01 2.74 T wo.77 Made in Germany

(I have confirmed via No. Hollywood Speedo that the numerals "2.74" stamped into the body of the speedo are a date code for February 1974)

$475.00 shipped anywhere in the continental US. Price reduced to $455.00

European buyer will pay a higher shipping price to be determined at the time of sale.

Determined to be the correct speedo for a ROW Euro 1974 Carrera

I remember reading a thread about these 180mph speedos here or on the Pelican recently. If my memory serves me correctly, no OEM 180 had the numbers all the way at the bottom.

I cant find the thread, so dont take me as an authority, but here is another thread that shows a 180 mph.

I am sorry to cause you heartburn. As I said, I am no authority, I recall a long discussion about these speedos.

I cannot find the thread but I found others showing similar speedo's (both early and late) with the 180 at the 6 o-clock position so I stand corrected and offer my sincere apologies.

    Sorry sorry sorry.

But seriously though, bad info is quickly weeded out here. Closed threads mean that dishonest people can come here and claim anything they want and there is no way to prevent people from being suckered. Yes, I admit I screwed the pooch here, but I had good intentions and more importantly I was quickly corrected.

If the buyer was sincere and really was chomping at the bit to buy the gauge, he will see that the correct info rose to the top and buy it.

Next time I will do more research - lesson learned.

The end markings on the speedo look correct to me - my '75 Carrera had similar placed end markings but to 300 kph.
However there was one recently advertised(not here !) with the end marking well around towards the 7:00 o'clock mark - definately NOT correct !
If something incorrect was for sale in these boards, then most of us know it is wrong - however that does not stop the inexperienced elfer buying such an item as the real thing.
The question is how to filter/make aware inappropriate/incorrect items for sale so no one gets taken versus destroying a sale or reputation. Can this somehow be monitored in serious cases ?
The DDK board has a sticky saying roughly to take care with big ticket sales from new post sellers.
Maybe the dodgy ones are best left in the e bay minefield . . .

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

You know the system is already in place....

Panzer challenged the info....and the seller challenged back.....

    Other knowledgeable folks posted info....

Panzer quickly expressed regrets for not knowing for sure...he was polite and sincere

Seller feels a lost sale......it will sell I am sure it will...it looks to be the real thing a NOS part

You see.... when you post publicly you are open to a challenge and discussion...do it respectfully and heck it is a debate right.......

This board is a great wealth of information....a little terse at times...but what isn't...I like the fact that CornPanzer came back and was a stand up guy and said that he was wrong...how many times these days do you see someone take ownership of anything....

I put my flame suit away alone time ago....

    Cornpanzer.

I was quite amazed and thankful to see your post.

Had it been on Pelican, no one would have apologized but rather, they would spend hours trying to defend their wrong assessment.

Thanks for being a "stand up" kind of person

John, you're right, it will sell and now that some background has been published, it should make it easy for a person to do some research before they make the purchase

    thanks

    Larry
