    Easy One

I'm installing some newly refinished standard seats beautifully redone by Tony (applause) with the tri-color green/black/white houndstooth.

Dumb question: is there a consensus recommendation on how to lubricate the seat rails best? Couldn't find it with my novice search button skills.

Thanks. Pictures to follow when the seats are installed.

I used Sil-Glyde on the seat tracks in my car, for no other reason than I wanted clear greasy stuff on there instead of black greasy stuff. So far it's working great.

    Bob,
I found a clear grease at Auto-Zone called Dielectric tune up grease. Came in a small squeeze tube about the size of toothe paste and seems to work great. The plastic sliders between the rails do most of the work so a small film is all thats needed. I'd mail you the remains of my tube but the postage would cost more than the price at the store. Now for some photos!!!

    Grease

    Thanks to all for suggestions.

Daron, that's what I also ended up with after going to several auto parts stores last night. Couldn't find a NAPA store in their headquarters city for the Sil-Glyde.

Pictures coming this weekend after installation. I'm very pleased with Tony's craftsmanship, and appreciative to Eric Linden for making the fabric available to begin with.

    New Seats

So here are the new seats. My car originally came with black vinyl sport seats, which are in excellent shape so I didn't want to mess with them.

But I did want to introduce some color and an occasional change in driving personality for the car, a '73E.

Eric Linden convinced me that the green/black/white houndstooth would go great with the Emerald (Viper) green paint, and he was right. Although the cloth is not as striking paired with black seats as with the green leather that Eric used (oh for a green leather interior on a silver or light ivory car!), it's still unusual and adds texture to my previously all black interior.

Glaverbel had a very nice pair of original standard seats that convinced me they could be both very comfortable for cruising and reasonably supportive if built right.

Tony did a great job rebuilding a nice pair of standard seats donated by NiceT. It's been years since I had standard seats, and all I've ever had I hated because they were too bouncy and slippery due to all leather or vinyl. These rebuilt seats are much different, with a firm feel and not slippery due to the cloth inserts. I'm very pleased with the change in appearance and personality that they give the car.

Lastly, thanks to Bob Tilton and RennWagen for scoring the additional hardware that I needed.

Once again, the Early S connections come through.

    Thanks to all,

    Bob
