correct surface finish on 73-74 vinyl ??

    Hi
doing some research before jumping in on restoring some pieces. The vinyl used on the 73 and 74 911 had a distinctive pattern to it. Some one described it as pigskin; rows and rows of small v marks all across the surface.

    Where can i find this?
Tried the usual outlets here on the west coast. I have the blue black from 74, but it only comes in a grained surface= not correct when going for 100%

    Thanks for any tips

I thought 72 and 73 were the same and I've been told NLA for a 100% match.

Don't know if I woul describe it as pigskin but, it has more of a leather appearance than 69-71.

72 and 73 are the same as far as I know.

There is no direct replacement, but I understand that the 1988 material is very close.... so I have been told, I haven't seen it personally.

here is what i found out. Thanks to Tony at Autobahn for some of the info.
There is no more vinyl with the "pigskin" pattern available in the usa. You can get leather dyed to the correct color (say blue black for a 74 if that is what you are after) BUT the minimum order is 10 hides. It takes about 8 to do a complete interior, seats, panels, etc
They will pattern the leather to pigskin graining.

The blue black vinyl we received has a nice later model grain to it, but will not match the oe interior finish. The color is spot on

conclusion? expensive upgrade to restore your pigskin grained interior to leather
