    Waking Up Sleeping Beauty

If all goes well tomorrow, I am buying a '72 911T that has been in storage for over 20 years in SoCal. I'm pretty concerned about the MFI system - I'm sure this car was just parked without any preparation. Does anyone have any experience with a similar car? I plan to clean out the tank, change the fuel filter, engine oil, etc before I try to crank it, but is there anything special that should be done to the FI pump before trying to turn it over?
    Thanks in advance!

    Greg-

Here is a good place to start for info on the MFI system: Pelican Parts MFI tech page.

Download the CMA (Check Measure and Adjust) pdf and pay special attention to pages 42-47. When laid up, the MFI pump should be filled with Bosch test oil, which obviously wasn't done in your case. It specifically states that used motor oil can cause "gumming and seizing" of internal componernts over time. I hope your budget includes a pump rebuild, as I would not be confident that it will run well after 20 years of sitting.

Tom is right, from my encounters at least. My E was sitting for a while before I got it. I was able to get it running and drivable but the mixture was quite rich. Needless to say a proper rebuild is needed; I have a rebuild T pump that I am running as a stop gap at the moment.

Thanks for the info - We"ll see what happens. If worse comes to worst, what can I expect to pay for a system cleaning and tune?
