    Exhausting stuff

    Exhausting stuff

I am curious about a lot of the period muffler systems that were available “back in the day”. Every now and again I see some fly up on Ebay. I saw one called a Daytona, Sebring, and most recently this Supersprint. I want something different and I will most likely modify what I get anyways. Let me know your thoughts/opinions.

    Thanks,
    -Andrew

    Andrew,

My car came with a MANTA system (like the one pictured on the bottom of your page) Sounded great ... took it to my first mechanic (old school Porsche guy) and he said ... 'How do you like giving up about 10 HP?' ... I put on a stock muffler and immediately missed the sound and felt more power..

If you have carbs you can get away with almost any freely flowing exhaust system... if you have MFI, it a whole different story....

I put this on this morning, a homemade sport muffler I got off CL. It's loud! I love it! Probably a popular modification back in the day.

Thanks for the input guys. Rick nice SWB!! I am not set on changing from stock esp. after re reading Tom's linked thread. I just keep thinking that that muffler is heavy and it is easy to change. One would have to get a good amount of back pressure for the MFI then? Maybe I should just put a Cat on it...
