Hey Guys,

Is North Hollywood better than Palo Alto with respect to gauge restoration or pricing? Not sure who to send my gauges to. Also, the yellowing of the gauge faces is a result of age and sun exposure not because they came yellowish as opposed to white? I'm looking to get the bezels replaced, the glass cleaned and the faces cleaned as well, but I'm not sure if the yellowing will go away or still look the same.

The yellowing will remain. I had North Hollywood do bezels and cleaning on my gauges. They repainted the orange indicator needles, as they noticed that they had badly faded. I also had them convert my tach to a 10,000 RPM face. The markings on the tach are significantly whiter that those on the other gauges. If cost is not an object, I'd recommend that you have them make new gauge faces. As for NH vs. Palo Alto, do a search, as there was an extensive thread either here or on Pelican about this subject.

I have used both NH and PA and have followed the flogging of PA in past threads. This last go around two months ago I phoned both for quotes and PA was a bit more than half of the NH quote, yes I have heard the 'you get what you pay for' line. I had used them in the past with good results and had spoken to a couple of serious S reg members who use PA and swear by them, good swearing . I decided to go with PA. I sent all 5 911 gauges, early green face in for repair, referb, calibration etc, etc. I received them back in 3 1/2 weeks and they are absolutly first rate.
