    front license plate bracket

Does anyone have a photo of the front license plate bracket for long hoods?
If someone has a bracket for sale, I need it.

    Hi Robo,

Are you referring to part 90170105124? I picked mine up from Stoddard last year, had to wait a few weeks because they were backordered, though.

    Jorge,

Thanks. Boy, that looks like a lot of hardware. My fender has only 2 holes approximately 9 1/2 inches apart and 1/4 in below the aluminium trim. That set does look like it would work for me.

    Nah, just:

    • 16 galvanized flat washers
    • 8 black rubber spacers
    • 3 external toothed lock washers
    • 2 phillips head sheet metal screws
    • 3 hex head screws
    • 3 hex head machine screws
    • 4 hex nuts
    • 2 custom metal brackets

and when you finsh the install you can stand back and say with complete confidence, "there now....that ought to hold 'er!"

Dit it alter the handling characteristics of the car? Do you recommend a corner balance after the installation?

I don't know where I got this photo but had it saved on my computer. I believe it's after market but shows all the parts needed to mount the license plate for long hoods with a standard bumper

Just got this kit myself, and the above pictures helped to make up for the lack of diagram... It looks like the brackets are used to attach a big blank plate, and you put the license plate on top of that... Guess I'm missing the plate still, despite all the hardware on my workbench ;-)

I'd try to attach the plate directly to the bracket but that would mean only the top or bottom would be attached (as the bracket is small than a plate) and I'd have to be pretty precise with my bumper holes. What'd you guys use, a blank piece of aluminum?

For those with a "S" spoiler the 1974 and later mid year front license plate bracket mounted upside down is a less obtrusive way of mounting a front plate.

I've just installed mine... I don't like the look of it. It stands too far forward, like a prominent chin. I think the yellow car above gets away with it because it's a black plate ;-) That being said it is way over-engineered, you could probably mount an oil cooler off that thing !

Anyway, to answer my question, I used the old FL rear plate as a backing to mount the new CA plate, since the brackets need to attach to a backing plate of sorts (unless you wanna drill all over the new plate). Worked fine. Still kinda ugly in the end. I have another such factory bracket on the way for my other car, too late to cancel, I won't use it. I'll get a 356 rear plate bracket instead and use that in the front. 2 less holes, and if I get a ticket for slightly angled plate (it'll follow the bumper curvature), so be it... If anyone needs the correct one for concours (as seen above on the yellow car), it was backordered at Stoddard so I can happily sell you mine for the same price but free shipping ;-) But looks wise, I don't recommend it.
