    'Franken-box'

I'm looking to transfer the (short) gears from a '66 901 box
    into a '70 901/911 housing
    A straightforward operation?

    Hi Gilbert

I have done this in my '71 911 'box. Well my mechanic did I went with AFMSX and am very happy with the results! I would have had a crack at it but no time and no place to work on the car at the time....

Makes the car feel like it has gained a few horses!

    Cheers, Cam

If I remember correctly, there are one or two components that are narrower in the earlier gearbox. The factory manual is quite clear about this. I think it might be first and/or second gear? In any event, you need to make sure that you use compatible components.

I converted my 911 box to AFMSX, but I used a 914 input shaft/second gear, so the specs were the same as my 911 components. I like the gearing so far, but I only have 12 miles on it, and have yet to use 5th!
