This car is also posted on Pelican; seller ID's himself over there as living in the same town in PA as I do. I've contacted him to take a look at it, this weekend if not sooner.

I suppose this may give me an opportunity to introduce myself to this board, as I've been almost exclusively a lurker since signing up here.

When an ad says "needs some rust repairs" at the end, and the pictures are distant and grainy, one should be cautious about their enthusiasm ...

Understood. I've been looking for a Sporto coupe for some time, and it's always been a case of right car, wrong time or vice versa. I'll suffer whatever slings and arrows others may throw re my choices, but i won't be posting my MRI's and X-rays online.

    In this case, however...

...no doubt about it. The RF fender in particular has that line of rust-through straight down before the trailing edge that I've seen in 90% of all the old Studebakers I used to fiddle with. That he includes two replacement fenders in the deal is telling.

Even if this car were in better shape, it would be a very hard sell - 2.0L Sporto, base model car, smog-pumped '68, less popular color. Should I get to see it, it will at the very least offer me a learning experience.

This car belonged to the regional Porsche dealer's wife when new? I think that's what the ad from the PCA web site read from a couple months ago. The asking price was $7,200.00?

^^ So he's not exactly throwing in those two front fenders, is he? (I missed that ad as I'm not yet a PCA member; I and others I'm sure thank you for the heads up.)

I've not heard back from the fellow, so I don't know if/when I'll see it. The photos weren't taken here in town, but at a shop (Fairwinds Automotive) in Bear, DE, so the car may not even be here for viewing.

I suspect this may not be a fast seller.

What would cause that straight rust line? I thought it looked too far forward to be where the flange bolts to the tub but it seems that must be what it is?

Knowing to ask $10k for a swb project vehicle yet posting grainy pics is a tough combo to feel good about i suppose. My initial impression however was that it is absolutely worth taking a look at. The interior pic and pic w/ the rear decklid open are encouraging.
