    Early Dashboard "Buttons"

'65 and '66 Dashboards had four exposed mounting screws at the windshield side. The screw heads were covered with some sort of "button". I can't find out what it looked like or what it was made of. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    64-65 Dash buttons

    Hi Jerry (welcome),
The dash button are a mushroom head sheet metal screw with a plastic cap/cover.
They are similar to Photo 1, from a early 1960's VW bus interior. The difference is diagram 2, Porsche had a profile of "A"and are black, VW is the "B" profile - VW come in black or brown depending on year/interior. The little skirt can be buffed off to emulate the porsche part.
Photo 3, is the center 4 buttons with a fifth over the glove box (but 4 button sounds sexier than 5 button - so the name stuck).

Around spring/summer 1965 the buttons went away.

These are just a little larger than the originals on 301022 but very close.

if the link expires search black smooth licence plate frame screw cap and it should find something.
