silver vs. black border turn signals...???

Any rules on year/car with respect to the turn signals and tail light border color (Black/silver)? What's correct for a 71S? Is it supposed to match the horn grill color or go with the actual color of the car?

    Thanks!

silver vs black border turn signals

All were silver border thru 72, 73 started the black trim. Horn grills also followed the same change over. Car color was never a factor.
