Question Guys, honestly, what do you think of this car please.

I have been trying to join the ranks of you guys with older cars for a while.
I am pretty picky and have not found a car I would be completly happy with and I do not mind building my own.
I would like something I can play with and learn from for a while. In about 3yrs I will be retired and would like to build a 3.6 Hot Rod. Originality is not important to me in this case. I do not have any "Porsche" friends or anyone I can rely on for advice.

Thanks in advance for your time, Rich

Seems to be a nice car, good for RS or RSR with your 3.6 wishes.
No visible rust and looks like a really solid car IMHO.

And you can help a lot of people with the S trim, engine lid, etc.. if you are going Hot Rod style

I was not even thinking along those lines. What do you think I could sell from the car?

Looks like a good one. I'd ask the seller about the mid year rear bumper. Check the car carefully for traces of accident repair in the rear end. Other than that, get a thorough PPI from a reputable shop that knows early cars. What is the seller asking?

I will look the back over carefully. He is asking $14,500.
Any recomendation for a PPI in Queens, NY?

Ditto on the rear end. If you let the PPI shop know about your suspiscions, they should be able to pick up on any previous rear end body repair.

I don't know anybody in the Queens area.

The body looks pretty solid. Though from the pictures, I can see some surface rust. Looks like a nice project car if it checks out

+1 ...looks like it would clean up nicely and would restore relatively easily to a basic stock longhood (vs. a hot rod)

Depends on what you want to do.. Race car? mild hot rod? Stock look wild soul?

The lines and shapes looks okay but indeed a PPI is your best friend right now.

P.S. if you can add some photos of what you have in mind, project speaking, that would help even more to tell what you could sell, but you can watch at joeyjudge posts on pelican forum, you can sell as much as you want to sell...

    Thanks for all the replys.
The guy finally got back to me. He is holding the car for someone who is flying in to see it. He will let me know what happens in 2 weeks.

That's not a mid year bumper. That is a conversion kit that makes an early bumper look late. Very common back in the day; Performance Products used to sell them.
