Thread: Euro headlight or lens wanted

Euro headlight or lens wanted for a 65

My new to me 65 911 has Euro headlights with one dented rim and broken lens. Does anyone have a lens, rim, or entire unit for sale? I'd buy a pair so I won't have to go through this again if someone wants to sell a pair.

    Thanks,
    Alan

Here's the car. Your parts will have a good home and they won't appear on eBay!

Alan - you can still buy the Euro non-ridge/shelf lenses from Stoddard. I bought a set a few months ago - seems to me they were $55 ea. You will probably need to buy a new set of H4s for a primo set of chrome rings.

    Thanks Bob,

Stoddard has Hella Euro lenses. The correct ones for my car are Bosch, and Stoddards doesn't have these. Are later H4 rings the same as the rings for the early US and European headlights?

    I'm pretty sure they are.

They are different, the early 911 rings are similar to the 356 headlight rings and are much more rounded in their profile. H4 and H-1's have screws for adjusting the lights, correct?

    Headlight profile

Sixgt, I'm not sure but the only rounded profile headlight rims I've seen were 356 which had the mounting tab removed and installed on a 911. The 356 are pictured and mislabeled as fitting the 911 in two aftermarket (MidAmerica and PerformanceProducts) catalogs. The H1 and H4 profile are the same as seen on these early car photos.
As an example here is the Prototype for the 901 (from 1964) (Note the gas flap lid is round rather than the production oval, and the number of fins on the horn grille). The red car is a 1964 911. Both exhibit the flatter H4 profile. (But I could be wrong). Have any pictures?

I think they both have two adjusting screws (Euro and H-4). The H-1 have four screws. So I think the trim rings should work.
