    68 Soft Window Targa Restoration

My SWT chasis is back from the paint booth, with a fresh coat of light ivory paint. Fenders and misc peices go next.

I need some help with some COA items I just discussed with PCNA.

The following options are listed per Kardex and any additional info on these is appreciated:

"chrome-plated" rims (9121) 5.5Jx15 5 pieces (does this mean Fuchs?)
    Veith Pirelli Tires
    Velouran floor mats

In addition, the following options which I think I understand:

    tinted glass all around
Blaupunkt Radio "bremen" - does anyone have one?
    Loudspeaker/Antenna Nr 318630
    Halogen Fog Lights
    Outside Thermometer
    Ski Rack for Targa
    Raised steering wheel hub

I would appreciate help with info on carpet to replace the worn current carpet with. I think that it should be the square-weave but would appreciate input from those more knowledgeable.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Jason

This a Bremen radio from a Samba ad. Is this correct for a '68??? It looks too old to me. Is there a more recent/updated style?

The chrome plated wheels would be the standard steel wheels in chrome with hub caps.

Veith Pirelli just means it came with Pirelli tires- my '68 911 coupe shows the same thing on the COA.

Veloran floor mats probably means carpeted mats over the rubber mats.

Halogen fog lights would be under the bumper lights.

Outside thermometer would be in the dash next to the headlight switch- this is a very rare option.

The raised steering wheel hub brings the standard wheel about an inch closer to the driver. Take a photo of your wheel and we'll let you know if that's what's on your car.

If your car is a 911 normal Targa instead of an L, it would have had Perlon carpet with rubber floor mats. No carpet on the floor which might explain the veloran floor mats on your COA.

Keep us posted on the progress of the car with photos.

    Mike:

    Thanks...

I am looking for a Bremen radio and a ski rack for the targa top (along with some 1968 skis if anyone has a lead on these)

The thermometer is there and pretty cool.

We (JPLonghood is spearheading the restoration for me...I don't have a mouse in my pocket), are going to go with the Perlon carpets and try to get the correct floor mats (Velouran). If anyone has a lead for me on these....please let me know.

We will keep you posted as we progress. Any thoughts, help, suggestions are much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Jason

I'll take a pic of the radio from my 68 softie and post for you. Also, radio antenna on the LF fender. Do you have correct door pockets ?

We do have correct radio antenna on left front fender.

Need to ask John about the front glass?

I have a pic of the steering wheel but don't know how to resize it to make it upload.

    Bremen Radio

This is what it should look like. This is 1967 model but believe 68 is the same.
