1968 911 Normal fuel pump location

I have been restoring this car for a couple of years and am now down to the last couple things that haven't resolved themselves. When I began taking this car down, I wasn't too concerned with the location of the fuel pump (Hardi). It was located by the steering gear. The bracket was obviously home made and is not reusable since the aluminium is very fatigued where it was bent. My questions are first was this common to move the pump out of the engine compartment away from the heat? I am in Oregon and haven't had any vapor lock issues in my 912. Secondly, the power was pulled out of the first fuse location (stop light, blinkers) is this ok (if I put the pump back up front)? Thirdly, I am inclined to want to put it back in the engine compartment but I would need to find an original mount (E901.608.111.00 probably not a big deal) and would also like to see a picture of how the pump originally got its power when located in the engine compartment. I've got the color wiring schematic, but think a picture would be more helpful. Thanks.

    Hardi mount

    Hello,

Here is a picture of the Hardi with the mount. I think the power is from the red wire?? Sorry, but I have no wiring diagramm with me at the moment.

    Thanks for the photo Cladius.
I found an original mount yesterday and droppped it off to the painter (powder) today. Once I get everything mounted I will figure out how the power is ran off of the #8 resistor (as shown in the wiring diagram). I am sure it will be apparent when I get to looking. I know there was a loose wire that might be the old power supply. That would be too easy I am sure.

Can anyone share a photo of the left side of the engine compartment showing the Fuel pump set up for a 1968 Normal? My PO thought they had a better idea and bodged it up. I'm using the parts catalog as a guide, but I'd like to see it on the car.

    Thanks

This is a before and after of my '68 Normal. You can see the three mounts for the fuel pump bracket. The Hardi pump had been moved to the front of the car. Yes I know the board should be black, but it looked so good all shined up I hated to cover it.

    T308,
Did you see both pictures? For some reason the second image isn't showing up on my computer, but shows up when I view it on my phone.
