    High school cars:

1970 VW Bug - Just like Marco. Great minds think alike.

    1971 Datsun 510 - Modified and fun.

    College car:

Another 1970 Datsun 510 - Modified and fun part 2. Applied lessons from Datsun 510 #1 with fewer mistakes. Then stolen and recovered
I rebuilt it and then realized I could fix up a Porsche 911 instead. The 1970 911T was my daily driver until I moved across town and became a commuter.

    Adult cars:

1996 BMW 328is - Too soft and heavy.
2004 Subaru WRX - Too much fun with 4 doors and comfortable enough for the family.

The Porsche cars are now weekend toys.

Wow...kind of fun to think back...lets see:

Now I graduated college and was in grad and post grad school. Sold all but the Speedster. Most others mentioned were had for short or longer term through high-school and college. Never more than two at a time though and usually a P car in there.
    11: 86 911 -- sold the speedster

    22: 07 Ford F450 CC current
    23: 71 911E current

Wow...hmmmm sure I missed some car in there. I know there was an alfa spyder and a fiat 124. A Nova 350, an MGA and I just remembered I have an old MG-TC in long term taken apart storage. And I just noticed that Marco put down M/Cs as well...Current bike is a 96 916 SPS and an 01 BMW 1200CM. Well that was fun... and humbling.

    Mmmmm...

My list isn't anywhere near as BIG as yours guys...

Dad "gave" me my first car when I was 8 (yeah sure - and I stupidly believed him ). But she did carry my initials on her number plates so I guess that really did mean she was mine .

    So to start -

    1962 356B T6 S75 Coupe - LG-356

Then we "swapped" cars when I was about 16 I guess..."my" coupe for a 1959 356A S75 Cabriolet that was whacked in one side and needed restoring.

At the same time I bought a 1962 Beetle and started to tinker...swapped a lot of bits from this car to the one below...

Got my licence and the first road car was a 1960 Beetle with a hot cam and dicky distributor. When I drove it hard (that was most times) it wouldn't start again for hours. Dad would never fix the dizzy for me as he thought that a) he could control my movements and how late I would stay out (wrong) and b) that I would drive more sedately (wrong again).

Next came a 1974 1600 Superbug in happy yellow. I loved that little car and kept her for years .

Whilst I still had the Superbug we finished the resto on the Cab and I drove both - Cab by day and Bug by night.

Sold the Cab, bought another project - a 1960 356B Roadster S75 that needed a heap of work but was all there. Ended up selling the whole project on many years later and restoring it for the new owner. Car moved to France, now in England.

Bought a really lovely 2.2T. Sold the Bug then too .

Sold the 2.2T and moved into a project car - 1977 911S. Whilst building this car, I bought a BMW 323i Coupe which was great to drive in the dry and bloody lethal in the wet! Sold it when the 911 was finished.

I loved the '77 to bits as we had done so much to it and it was a dream to drive (and ate 3.0Ls and spat them out!). Only sold her when I was pregnant with Tom, hurt my back and couldn't fit behind the steering wheel anyway!

Moved into a very hot VW Type 3 Wagon with a 2.2L Type 4 engine and all sorts of goodies - mortgage, little kids - you guys know the picture.

Then came my foray into rotaries...Mike having raced on rotary engines for a number of years.

First RX3 coupe was a bit of a roughie, but had a 13B Bridgeport in it that went really well. I just didn't like the "whapp whapp whapp whapp" thing going on all the time - really lumpy and I was bait for every bloke at every set of traffic lights.

Second RX3 Coupe was something really special. A one owner with the plastic still on the door trims. We had built a beautiful 12A extendport for the earlier car and swapped that out into the new one. This engine was faster, quieter and much more tractable to drive.

I think I had an RX2 Coupe in there somewhere; bought it, sold it, made a good buck .

Then came my VW Multivan which I still have and still love. Another 911 (Jazz Blue) has come and gone since and my current P-Car is Dad's baby; the 2.0L S powered 356 special.

Jeez - maybe my list isn't that much shorter .

    This is fun:

First Car: 1973 Audi Fox -

I put a downdraft Weber on it after rebuilding the stock carb twice.

I put big (B 70x 13!!!) tires on it, painted the wheels black and got chrome trim rings from a Jetta(?) at the junk yard.

I pulled the exterior door trim off and put black electrical tape striping on the sides, changed the interior from blue to black, made a between the tail light "reflector" out of red plastic. I found a tach that went in the clock hole at the junkyard. I cut the shift lever off to make a short shifter.

The Audi Fox, in the hands of a 16 year old, was a super rally car. I used to take it out in cow pastures and practice sliding sideways. It used to pick the inside rear wheel up in hard cornering on the street. Good fun, that.

    2nd: 71 VW Squareback
3rd: 73 Fiat 124 Coupe (with a station wagon rear end it would redline 5th)

    College and Grad School Days:

4th: 64 Pontiac LeMans Convertible (my buddy still owns it)
    5th: 80 Buick Century
6th: 70 Ford Torino (no better burn out car IMHO)
    7th: 89 Dodge Colt

    Post School:

    8th: 96 Ford Taurus SHO
    9th: 00 Chevy Astro van
10: 04 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally

    Current:

    99 Ford F-150
07 Chrysler Town and Country Walter P Chrysler Edition Touring (whew!)
00 Boxster S (which has been begging me to supercharge it)
    67 911S Targa

Oh, and my dad still has his dad's 58 Ford, which I would have if I had garage space.

    I love cars

    00 Boxster S - Speed Yellow

Not surprising to see all the VW Beetles on the lists, eh? I've owned over 40 cars but here are some of the memorable ones for various reasons:

1st car - bought my dad's old company car - a base 1969 Chevelle. Within 6 months - and having never done any auto repair work beyond slot cars before - my brother and I somehow managed to transplant a 402 big block into it
    1969 SS396 Chevelle - beautiful, all-original, very fast car.
1969 Buick Riviera GS - like driving your living room couch down the interstate.
1973 VW Sports Bug - closest thing to a 911 I could afford while in college.
    1981 VW Jetta 2-Door
1982 VW Scirroco - 1st brand new car.
1973 Porsche 911 - purchased in 1983, finally!!! Converting these ugly early cars to the safety bumper look was all the rage. The only reason I didn't was I couldn't afford to
    1985 VW Jetta GLI

Marriage/kids - aka: the Dark Ages of automotive ownership Several Subaru 4wd wagons, SUVs, trucks, mini-vans, and other totally forgettable vehicles.

    1971 Porsche 911 (still own)
    2003 Porsche Cayenne S (sold)
    2004 BMW M3 (sold)
Various VW Jetta TDI's (still own)
2004 Dodge Durango Hemi (current tow vehicle)
1998 Saab 900SE Turbo Cabrio (on 'loan' to my daughter )
    1988 BMW M3 (still own)
1985 Audi ur quattro (still own)
2006 Chrysler PT Loser Cabrio (wife's daily driver)
2006 Audi A4 quattro (current daily driver)

Lots of cars and 40-50 motorcycles have graced the garages where I've lived. Great memories.

Damn, Curt. A Buick GS? A buddy (who is a certified Buick nut) just picked an honest to goodness 1965 Riviera GS. Clamshells work great. 2x4's- watch the gas gauge move!

Just for you I offer the following: Not a GS but pretty.
