    Which engine to go with?

So I have a really nice 72T RS replica I bought recently. It is complete and was rotisserie resto car. In short it is really nice! It previously had a 3.0L motor in it that was blown by the PO. I bought the car with no motor.
So here is the question. I have a 72T RS spec rebuilt motor (complete with MFI, SSI etc ) I bought a few months ago. I bought it assuming I would find a nice car to drop it in. I found one.
In addition, I recently was offered a 82 Euro 3.0 motor (205hp) complete with CIS etc for a few grand less than what I picked up the RS spec motor.
Since the roller had a 3.0 CIS motor in it, the 82 3.0 Eur motor will drop right in and I will have 205 with a lot of low end torque.
On the other hand, the roller is a 72T, so the RS spec 72T motor would make it an almost matching numbers car (the car was repainted a different color during the resto so it is not all that original anymore - especially with the RS flares and ducktail). The 2.7RS spec motor was dyno'd at 215hp. And of course, the power is higher up on the rev range.
What do the members here the would be the better motor to go with?

I would go to 2,7 RS spec engine to match with the car
Also depends how you will use it,street, track???

Gruen, I would definitely go with the 2.7 engine. I had an RS clone with a similar engine, and I really loved it. The 2.7 MFI is a great set-up. Good luck!

    Garth-

I have to agree w/ Oliver and Arjen. The 2.7 MFI engine will just fit the character of that car better. The throttle response and sound of revving quickly to 7300 RPM cannot be matched by the Euro CIS engine. Yes, the 930/10 3.0 has great low-end torque and surprising power, is very driveable around town, starts well when cold, and is a very reliable engine. I have one in my '68 autox car and it is a very efficient piece, but runs out of breath at 6-6,500 RPM, does not have the instant response when you step on the gas, and the decel valve limits the dropping revs as well, giving a totally different sound to the motor, and that distinctive whine of the MFI pump is absent as well. It is a far less exciting engine on a purely visceral level.

A thought... Why don't you put MFI onto the 3.0? Or webers?

    I would agree......duh

You'll be more then happy with the 2.7... More snap, more legs, more fun...

Years ago at Buttonwillow race track I noticed a beautiful early red 911 circulating the track REALLY fast. After the session I went over to his pit and asked him about his car. He said it had a built 3.2 carbed motor putting out well over 260HP and it was OK... BUT... He said without hesitation, "What I REALLY miss is my old 10.5 compression 2.7 MFI motor that I used to go stronger, harder, and a bit faster then this 3.2" ......... I smiled...

    ... and so it goes

    Cheers
