I am looking for info on how to remove an interior door panel on an early car. My passenger door latch died yesterday. I have searched here and on Pelican to no avail. Any info would be appreciated.

There are a number of plastic push in holders along the edges to hold the panel in place. When I replaced my Window Regulator Pivot Pins, I carefully went around the perimeter of the door panel and tugged gently and most popped out. Some needed some help, so I used a tape wrapped spatula to help move them.

- Undo the elastic cord for the flip-out map pocket under the armrest.
- Flip down and remove the screws holding the lower hinge.
- Reach in the door-inner, and undo the nut holding the top rear corner of the front map pocket (you cannot see this from outside the door).
- Remove bolt holding front top of map pocket from outside the door (inside the car) w/ screwdriver.
- Pull out top bolts and flip down front map pocket then remove 4 small screws holding the lower hinges to the door. Remove pocket.
- Unscrew lock push button, remove screw cap at back of upper trim cover. Remove the 2 screws and then remove the upper trim cover.
- Undo the allen bolts holding the armrest (one at the top pull grip on passenger door) it helps to have a long allen wrench cause the armrest bolts are deep within holes. Unpop bell-crank plastic attachment to lock mechanism, then you can remove the armrest.
-Remove speaker if you have one.
-Now you can remove the trim panel, carefully pull out the plastic tabs. As Harry said, it helps to do this with leverage from a flat scraper from behind, right up against the plastic tabs.

Ah yup. What Jared said. I kind of assumed you had all the other hardward off and just needed to pull the panels.
There is a tech article at Pelican as well. Read it here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...nel_remove.htm

Thank you all so much
Well now I've got the door opened up and believe the latching mechanism is bad. The window track runs right in front of it inside the door. I'm told that the track can be removed with the window in place. Has anyone ever tried this?
