Very rare 1968 911s targa looking for input

Hi there I have a 1968 911s Targa and is located in Canada. Its in good condition and looking for some advice. Is there anyone out there that can tell me the value of the car as I am at the point of either selling it or spending some more $$ on it to make it 100% original. Its a # matching car but rear wheel wells has been flared. I have been told that only 442 of them was build in that year trying to find out more info on it.
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated

    is the glass window aftermarket?

I have a 68 Targa that is a 911 Normal US model. I was under the impression that the 67 and 68 Targas were all soft-window. Do you have a VIN number so we can learn a little more about the car? Do you know the ownership history?

My guess on value (just my guess, don't throw things) is a nicely restored S Targa would be in the range of $60K plus depending on condition -- obviously could go higher if excellent. I recently bought a 72 S Targa in very good condition in that neighboorhood.

You are correct that the production number on the 68S Targa is 442 (per the red book).

Nice car....I would love to see some interior pics as I am currently restoring my 68 soft-window and would love to check out yours.

I also just found out that “ With 1968 came other new addition, such as a glass rear window for the Targa, and vented brake discs on all 4 wheels. Also new were ventilation slots on the Targa's roll bar. Unfortunately, the 911S was not offered in the US in 1968, but returned in 1969”
The vin # on my car is 11850279 if anybody can shed some light on the # would be great

Well, not all 68's had hard window's, I've got a 68 912 that was originally a soft window. Many of these cars did come with soft rear windows. It's pretty easy to tell, mine has the soft window chrome at the base of the targa bar, and also has the "headliner" for a soft window targa on the inside of the targa bar, rather than the hard window type.

Post a pic of the base of the targa bar, and also the inside of the targa bar, and we should be able to tell what you have.

I think the car is certainly very rare, and if it's # matching certainly worthy of a restoration.

911S from 67MY (August 66 production onward) had vented rotors.
