This car has been for sale for some time, I think I looked at it 18-24 months ago, not with an interest to buy. It looked like a well used race car. The decision to keep it as it was raced or take it back to RS configuration would take some deliberation. I do not recall that it had any significant race history, but that would be something to check. My thought was that it would take a lot to bring it back to stock RS. It would have to be a labor of love. Best wishes to the new owner and ask him to post on his progress.

    Regards,
    Bob

    Lightbulb

I saw this car as well years ago in NorCal...
Pulling in late to the Concourso when the event was still at the Quail I think...

I remember at first look I thought it was a rough clone... then someone said it was a 'real' car.

I also remember it was loud as hell, and the body sat WAY down on the wheels... the car road very low to the ground...

    Cheers

    1133

Believe that is the car that another board member used to own: Third Series Touring Model, originally Grand Prix White with Red Carrera trim.

Some old correspondence indicates it is nbr 1133 (not 1122) but guess that is mistaken. It is thought to have a thin guage roof panel like a Sport version and that is a nice feature to have.

The car had a factory burzel but it was from a '74 Carrera that had been modified for '73 shine down lights. The car had glass doors and no side glass when sold to the current seller. It was sold with some spares: a pair of steel doors, nos steel touring bumpers, center panel, front bumper and one good original spec sport seat. Rear panel showed some signs of a mild rear collision and that will require proper repair if not already done. I recall that the PO was certain that the tub had never been rusted.

I think it has a 911/83 case but it is thought to be a non-matching nbr. Tansxx nbrs were difficult to read as that spot had been used as a jacking point.

When our fellow board member bought the car, it had already been converted to a track car with cage etc. Heard that it was a good running car with a mildly tweaked street mfi engine - but ran really well.

Here is a nice image taken by the PO.

When I first looked at the photos of this car that was exactly the question I had. I don't see any photos of the VIN plate or stampings. As you know it would important to see the Production # stamping too which is listed as 1037009. Is it supposed to be a #'s matching car?

    Clyde,

How about this matching #'s RS at the same dealer. A much more original car hense much fewer headaches and restoration bills to pay.

Interestingly this car is 1108 with a Production # of 1036819

I looked at that car with Hayden Burvill (wevo) and thought it was very rough. Hayden probably remembers it.

I have been trying to talk sense to him but he's not listening so i am trying to validate the car instead.

I don't think he has pics of chassis number, the car doesn't have the ID tag on it and I am not sure if he has pics of engine/gearbox numbers.......most gearbox numbers are ground off anyway.

Car has been for sale for ages so that automatically makes me wary....but its not my money. I am with you Bryan, an India Red repaint on the white car would be a lot cheaper and the numbers are supposed to match.

On another note the shopping list for RS #197 has been reduced with an original manual, original supplement, drivers side sun visor and air compressor bottle all located at Essen by Phil Lack and I think a contact for a bilstein jack

Now all I need is the smaller owners booklet/service records.........might prove a lot more difficult.
